Ace of Mugs is not directly connected to Food Focused Nutrition other than these are both Jex’s projects. They do share some common themes, though. In all of Jex’s work, they aspire to create and hold spaces for community-building. Where Food Focused Nutrition is specifically for building community around food joy and disrupting food shame, Ace of Mugs is a space for more generalized community (for now—that focus may shift with the community as it grows).

    • What are zines? Zines are pages upon pages of possibility! I love how mini-zines (like the ones in my shop) are easy to reproduce and feel like magic when they’re folded into a book. They can replace a flyer or hand-out pretty handily, and often having multiple pages makes it possible for more impactful designs as you turn the pages (as compared to all the information being on 1 flat page). When I have more things to say at once, I’ll move into making quarter-zines and bi-fold zines, as a radical form of self-publishing and getting my work out into the world!

"sounds GAY, I'm in!" Ceramic Mug (15oz)

Just to be queer, this design is for those who hold their mugs with the handle looped around their palm. I've heard it's pretty gay to do this (and I do this all the time, as long as my mug isn't too hot), and I'm in for anything that's a little more queer. Using a couple different fonts, the design on this mug reads "sounds GAY, I'm in!" on the side of the mug opposite the handle. The word "GAY" is capatilized and has a rainbow background with sparkles. "I'm in!" has a purple neon effect around white letters, so it's less apparent than the rest of the otherwise bold design.
